Who We Are
From World Travelers to rio vista Gelato Makers: The Sweet Story of Butteri
When world-travelers Roxanne Cooper and Earl Yazel settled in Rio Vista, they wanted to create something special for their new community —a place where people could slow down, share a smile and enjoy something truly delicious.
That’s how Butteri was born.
From day one, their goal was simple: to make the best gelato in Northern California, crafted with the freshest local ingredients they could find.
They also wanted to keep it affordable, so a family of four could stop in and savor their favorite flavors together for just twenty dollars.
Most of all, Roxanne and Earl wanted Butteri to be about more than gelato and sorbets. They wanted it to be a way to give back to the community —supporting local growers, schools, non-profits and neighbors who make Rio Vista such a special place.-

Our gelato
We make our small-batch gelato with the finest local ingredients — including organic dairy from Petaluma’s own Straus Family Creamery — all crafted with care right here in Rio Vista.

Our Dairy-free gelato and sorbets
Our dairy-free gelatos and sorbets are crafted with the same care and creativity as all our flavors. We use creamy coconut or smooth oat bases to make them rich and satisfying — no dairy needed. Each one is made with real fruit and the finest local ingredients, so every scoop tastes bright, fresh, and full of flavor.
